Terms

Last updated

These terms explain how you can use the Holier Than Thou website and what to expect when you book and visit our studio. By using this site or booking an appointment with us, you agree to them, so please take a moment to read them.

Who we are

Holier Than Thou (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs this website and the piercing and tattoo studio at 97 Oldham Street, Manchester, M4 1LW, in the Northern Quarter. You can reach us at hello@holier-than-thou.co.uk.

Using this website

This website is here to give you information about the studio and our services. We work hard to keep it accurate, but details such as pricing, jewellery, opening hours and availability can change, and nothing on the site is a binding offer. Please use the site lawfully, and do not try to disrupt it, misuse it, or copy its content without our permission.

Booking, fees and deposits

You can book appointments and consultations through the tools we link from this site, including Square and Squarespace. To secure your slot, you may be asked for a booking fee or deposit. This amount comes off the total price of your appointment, so you simply pay the remaining balance in the studio on the day. Booking fees and deposits are non-refundable if you cancel late or do not turn up, as set out below.

Cancellations, no-shows and lateness

If you need to rearrange, please give us as much notice as you can so we can offer your slot to someone else. We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to move or cancel an appointment. If you cancel with less notice, do not turn up, or arrive too late for us to complete your appointment safely, your booking fee or deposit is not refunded and may not transfer to a new booking.

If you are running late, let us know as soon as you can. We will always try to help, but we may need to shorten or rearrange your appointment so we stay on time for everyone else.

Age and ID requirements

Body piercing and tattooing have legal age limits, and we apply our own minimum ages on top of the law. We may ask for photo ID, and we can refuse any service if we are not satisfied about age, identity, health or sobriety. Our minimum ages are:

  • Earlobes: from age 8, with a parent or guardian present to give consent.
  • Most other piercings: from age 16.
  • Intimate and surface piercings: 18 and over only.
  • Tattoos: 18 and over only, as required by law.

Accepted photo ID includes a passport or a UK driving licence. If you cannot prove your age, we will not be able to go ahead. We can also decline a piercing or tattoo if we do not feel it is safe or right for you, and we will always explain why.

Aftercare and guidance

We give aftercare advice to help your piercing or tattoo heal well, both in the studio and on this website. This guidance is general and is not a substitute for medical advice. If you have a health condition, take medication, are pregnant, or have any concerns about healing, please speak to your GP or another healthcare professional. If you think something is infected or you feel unwell, seek medical help promptly.

Pricing

Prices shown on this site or in the studio are a guide and can change. Jewellery prices in particular depend on the materials, the brand and what is in stock. We will always confirm the price with you before we begin, and payment is taken in the studio unless we tell you otherwise.

Gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are valid for the period stated on the voucher. They are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Vouchers are redeemed in the studio through Square. Please keep your voucher safe, as we cannot replace lost or stolen vouchers.

Intellectual property

The content of this website, including its text, images, the Holier Than Thou name, our logo and our branding, belongs to us or our licensors. You are welcome to view our pages and share links to them, but please do not copy, reproduce or reuse our content or branding without our written permission.

Links to other sites

We use trusted third-party services and link to them from this site, including Square and Squarespace for booking and payments, Google Forms for some enquiries, and Instagram for our portfolio. These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any website we link to, so please review their terms when you use them.

Our responsibility to you

We take real care over our work and your safety. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under the law. Beyond that, we are not responsible for loss or damage that we could not reasonably have foreseen, or that arises from your not following the aftercare advice we give.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when our booking tools or services change. The latest version always lives on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top shows when we last changed it, so please check back now and then.
